Arbor RealPalo Alto, California

Former site of the infamous Ricky’s Hyatt Hotel, Arbor Real consists of 184 multi-family and 11 single family units centered within a park-like setting of mature trees ranging from 30 to 80 years old. Lead a team of designers to plan and design a pedestrian orientated community with a central active park, adjoining children’s play area, recreation area and a swimming pool. Mailbox stations have been designed consistent with architectural details and have been located to provide for informal gathering areas and focal points. Existing trees were either saved in place or boxed and relocated on-site to more suitable locations maximizing their grandeur and provide focal points. Arbor Real continues to be as a living case study for the City of Palo Alto for environmental awareness, green building and sustainable design.
